The history of the development of JFil® and MiniJFil® stents

Updated: July 2017

The ureter allows the flow of urine from the kidney to the bladder. Sometimes, a stone or a tumor obstructs the ureter. To bypass the obstruction and protect the kidney, we insert a double-pigtail stent in the ureter. But, international medical studies estimate that 80% of patients complain of irritating symptoms [références 1-5]. Confronted daily with the suffering of our patients, I developed a new ureteral stent [références 6-11].

This short film (November 2014) aim to introduce you to this innovation. I’m grateful to Janine Dove-Rume (Maître de conférences, langues et littératures anglaises et anglo-saxonnes, Université François-Rabelais de Tours) who accepted to read the text.
